We have many exciting trips in 2007.
The schedule below provides information about specific future trips. As you consider the possibility of joining a team, be sure to read FaithWorks' Core Values and Goals and the information provided about Participating in a FaithWorks' mission trip.
The task of each trip is different, but there is only one purpose for all trips -- to share Christ's love in ways that make a Christian difference. Task and purpose are closely related and both should be accomplished so that Jesus Christ will be lifted up by all we do as servants. Volunteers are asked to:
1. Radiate Christ's love;
2. Share Christ's spirit of kindness, acceptance, and unity;
3. Serve Christ through serving people;
4. Lift up God in all they do;
5. Have a healthy prayer life;
6. Think team, not self;
7. Be flexible, patient, and relaxed;
8. Realize that people are more important than work results;
9. Understand that cultures are different, not superior or inferior; and
10. Be open to God's blessing!
Choose the trip that interests you and then fill out the Mission Trip Application form. This can be opened in any word processing program.
| Camp Verde, AZ [Family-friendly] -- We'll begin the year in the warm, friendly setting of the Verde Valley by doing building fix-up and miscellaneous tasks for one great day at Rainbow Acres. This is a ministry begun in 1978 providing a unique Christian community dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for adults with developmental disabilities. We'll come along side the committed staff to say "we appreciate what you do for those usually overlooked in our society by showing them Christ-like love and care." | January 20, 2007 |
| Sonora, Mexico [Medical] -- A medical/dental mission team of ten people will be sent to a needy town just south of the U.S. border in the state of Sonora. This will be our 12th medical mission into Sonora where professionals are welcomed with kindness. We'll continue to assist in the free provisions of medical care and medicines to the poor who cannot afford either, all in Christ's name! | February 15-18, 2007 |
| Dulac, Louisiana [Family-friendly] -- Into just one of the many communities that was nearly destroyed in Louisiana, we'll send a second annual disaster relief team to do continued residential building fix-up and repair for families and individuals who are still trying to get back on their feet. Meals and lodging will be at Dulac Community Center in this "shrimping" town, 85 miles southwest of New Orleans. | April 18 - 30, 2007 |
| Ft. Defiance, Arizona [Family-friendly] -- We enter into the labor of love that has been the story of Good Shepard Episcopal Mission since the late 1800's. We'll take 12-15 workers who feel God's call to refurbish these wonderfully historic buildings in Navajoland -- equipping the Christian congregation there to keep on "holding forth the Word of Life" in Jesus Christ. | May 17-20, 2007 |
| Northern New Mexico -- This is our annual maintenance/construction team trip to historic (1912) McCurdy Mission School in the Santa Fe - Taos area of New Mexico. Our goal is to assist the ministry of this important 450-student K-12 school established by Christian missionaries to serve the Indian and Spaniard communities in this area of Santa Fe/Taos. We'll wash windows, arrange and clean classroom furnishings, repair roofs, landscape, paint, etc. -- all to save precious budget money so that it can go to ministry toward the kids in Espanola, New Mexico. | July 29 - August 4, 2007 |
| The African Orphanage Ministry Project [Medical, Pastors, Children's Ministry] -- For the second year, we partner with Kilanya Parish of the Lutheran Church of Northern Tanzania on the slope of Mt. Kilimanjaro by sending a mission team comprised of pastors, teachers, and medical professionals to assist in relieving the suffering of this HIV/AIDS ravaged culture. We'll do pastoral support ministry, children's VBS programs, and will provide free medical care and medicines. And as a bonus along with hard work, we safari to Ngorongoro Crater to enjoy the wildlife viewing. Note: this is a three-week mission. | August 10 - September 2, 2007 |
| Moscow, Russia [Construction, Children's Ministry] -- We return for the 5th year to orphanage #105 in Moscow, one of the world's great cities (14.3 million people). We'll partner with Tatyana Duginova and the staff of this orphanage to bring Jesus' love to these wonderful kids. There are over 150 there, from ages 5 - 17, whose parents have either died or who cannot take care of them. Building fix-up and VBS-type ministry, armed with toys, treats, and unique Arizona gifts, we'll say "We're back! God loves and so do we!" | Sept. 21 - October 5, 2007 |
| Cottonwood, AZ -- We have the distinct privilege of converging on "The Old Town Mission" where Director Brian Detwiler is doing a great job of putting into practice our shared Christian faith by ministering to the children of "the working poor" in the Verde Valley. We do whatever is needed -- cleaning, painting, office assistance, building repair of any kind -- just so they at the mission can keep serving those in the community. It is a wonderful "one-day" mission, come on out! | September 15, 2007 |
| Sonora, Mexico -- Once again, we send another great medical team on mission to Agua Prieta, Mexico, for a four-day getaway for ministry. We'll continue to improve the medical provisions and level of care in the destination to which we're sent. We provide medical care and medicines to poor children who cannot afford to go to a doctor or pharmacy in Mexico. Great weather in Sonora this time of year! | Nov. 8 -11, 2007 |
| Antelope Hills, AZ -- Our annual Christmas ministry to Navajo children. This will be our 7th year to coordinate Christmas across denominational lines to provide needed ministry to Indian children in the "nations to the north". Our destination is just a 20-minute drive north of Highway 89A. What a great time it will be as we provide important building fix-up and repair to the missionaries' compound, and then we'll have the Christmas Party, distribution of collected gifts, and complete with Santa Claus, in the afternoon! | December 8, 2007 |
